European Roundtable Online Gambling Conference By: Shirley Spicer, Saturday March 31st 20120 Comments   Email   PrintGaming Laboratories International (GLI) has announced its annual European Roundtable conference. The event will take place on May 9 and May 10 in Budapest in Hungary. The venue of the conference is the Marriott Hotel. GLI is the world’s foremost gaming testing laboratory and technical consultancy. The division of GLI that carries out work for the online gambling industry is Technical Systems Testing (TST), a name that is familiar to all online casino players. The conference is primarily aimed at regulators. The objective is to help them be updated with the advances in technology in the rapidly growing and ever changing land casino and online gambling environment. The conference is free of charge to regulators. The registration is open and can be made online through the GLI web site. Special arrangements have been made for room reservations at the Budapest Marriott. Explaining the need for 2012 European Roundtable, GLI Europe’s Managing Director Martin Britton said that the whole purpose behind their Roundtable series was to bring regulators together to listen, learn and share common experiences for the benefit of the gambling industry. He pointed out, “There have been many dramatic developments in terrestrial gaming, lotteries, and in iGaming over the past year, and it is extremely important for regulators to be continually educated on developments that may affect their jurisdictions.” Britton recommended that finance ministers, CIOs, CTOs, online gaming regulators, lottery regulators, gambling commissioners, security directors and slot operations directors attend the 2012 European Roundtable. The leading experts from the industry will discuss and debate the crucial and relevant topics affecting gambling today and therefore the two days of the conference will be worth the time spent. The experts speaking at the conference include Europe’s leading technology experts, online gambling and land based regulators, suppliers of equipment and services to the gambling industry and GLI staff. A complete agenda for the conference will be released shortly. GLI’s Roundtable is a product of the company’s GLI University, which is an exclusive program that offers continuing education and vital training to regulators globally. Each year GLI University hosts Roundtable conferences around the world. The program is now seven years old and the conferences are looked forward to by the gambling regulation fraternity. 2011 European Roundtable attracted more than 40 regulators from 21 countries. Many jurisdictions attended the 2011 conference for the first time, including Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, Poland and Romania. GLI is an organization of over 20 years standing. Its main line of work is providing independent testing, inspection and certification services to the gambling industry. GLI also does independent network and information security assessments for online gambling operators. It has 20 laboratory locations in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Europe, North America and South America.
